Foreign media reports indicate that Apple Inc. is preparing to further expand its manufacturing footprint in Vietnam, aiming not only to strengthen its smart home product lineup but also to continue reducing its reliance on the Chinese supply chain.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple plans to launch several new home devices starting next year, including a home security surveillance camera and a central home control display capable of managing multiple smart appliances. In addition, a desktop robot equipped with motors and sensors that can move autonomously is scheduled for release in 2027.

Because the information has not yet been made public, the individuals requested anonymity. However, they revealed that Apple intends to shift production of all three of these new products to Vietnam.
This marks a significant shift in Apple’s new-product manufacturing strategy—traditionally, Apple would begin initial production of new devices in China before eventually scaling up or relocating production to other countries. These upcoming devices will be directly mass-produced in Vietnam for the first time.
For its home control device and desktop robot projects, Apple is deepening its collaboration with BYD, the major Chinese electric-vehicle manufacturer. BYD has rapidly increased its importance within Apple’s hardware supply chain in recent years.
In addition to being responsible for final assembly, BYD will also handle testing and packaging processes.
Sources further noted that Apple also plans to work with BYD to expand iPad production in Vietnam, underscoring Vietnam’s growing strategic role within Apple’s global manufacturing layout.
